John Williams - Tuesday 01.09.09, 11:04am

A report released today by Fairy Liquid reveals that over half of Mothers are struggling to save money on their weekly shop in order to treat their children during the summer holidays.

The research showed that 54% of mums say that they are becoming more savvy with their cash during these difficult times and are attempting  to save on the groceries to offer the kids a day out.

Further savings in the family outgoings are made by 52% of mothers cutting down on treats for themselves and partners, while 45% say that they have cut their social budget in order to give the best for their children.

The research found that during the six week summer holidays 21% of mothers spend between £200 and £300 treating their children.

There are various short term loans available that offer financial flexibility to parents who are waiting for payment of wages or similar, that may offer a short term solution to some parents during these difficult times.
