UK Finance: ‘Allowances clean up’ to be fast tracked

John Williams - Tuesday 31.03.09, 12:32pm

Prime Minister Gordon Brown has demanded that a wide ranging review of Parliamentary expenses be fast tracked, following the recent leaks that have totally embarrassed two of Labours cabinet ministers.

The news that Jacqui Smith had included the cost of two pornographic films, by accident, in her expenses allowance has prompted Brown to be seen to be doing something about the awful mess before any further information is leaked to the press.

Totally dismissing the fact that the ministers involved are using tax payers money to fund a lifestyle beyond normal means, Brown has claimed that those responsible for leaking the information are in fact  in breach of trust, not the politicians who are systematically drawing ‘our’ money to feed their greed.

Brown has also denounced the mole as breaching the official secrets act. Just what is there to keep secret? These MPs are funded by the nation and as such have nothing to hide.
