Grocery Bills Rise By 21% In Twelve Months

Family shopping bills have risen by 21% says a reports by mySupermarket, the website that compares supermarket prices across the UK.

Despite official inflation figures suggesting that food and non alcoholic drinks had risen by 7.8% since June last year, mySupermarket’s analysis of 24 staple items sold in the top three UK supermarkets shows a mind boggling 21% increase.

A family spending £100 per week on food shopping in June 2007 will now pay £121 for those same items, an extra £1092 for the average family to find per year.

If you need any advice while doing your weekly shop, it is to look out for cheaper like for like products in your supermarket of choice, hunt out the bargains and special offers and simply avoid items that are over priced.
