As reported here prior to his budget, Alistair Darling has made few friends north of the border due to his creeping duty on alcohol and particlularly whisky.
Utopia on Easter Road in Edinburgh was the first pub to bar Mr Darling from their premises and this has spawned an internet campaign to get some pay back and bar him from every pub in the land.
Pubs across the country are following suit; notwithstanding the pleasure of imagining an already unpopular man being unable to go out and socialise – which is probably a gross infringement of his human rights to get a life – it’s probably worth bearing in mind he most likely spends his lighter moments in the House of Commons bar, slugging down Evian and furthering his career.
Anyhow, what better way of punishing the Chancellor but to force him to visit every pub in the land and endure buying a round for all there present, at his newly inflated prices?
